Rosie is a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and has been a member of Court Our Lady of Mount Carmel #1993 in Edinburg since 1989. She has served her court in the offices of Vice Regent and Regent.
In 2007 Rosie was appointed District Deputy #50 and at the 2007 State Convention she was elected to the State Nominating Committee. She served as the Co-Chairman for the 2009 State Convention in McAllen and was honored as one of the Top 5 District Deputies at the 2011 State Convention.
Rosie was elected as State Secretary 2011-2013, Second Vice State Regent 2013-2015, First Vice State Regent 2015-2017, and State Regent 2017-2019. At the 2014 National Convention she was elected as the chairman to the 2016 National Nominating Committee. During the 2016 National Convention, Rosie was presented with the St. Faustina Award for Court Development in Texas.
In the community of Edinburg, Rosie holds memberships in Delta Kappa Gamma, a professional honor society for women educators; Pan American Round Table (PART); and the South Texas Literacy Coalition.
She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from Texas A&M University- Kingsville and a Master of Science degree in Human Sciences from Texas A&M University- Kingsville. Her thesis,
The Effects of Nutrition Education on the Nutrition Knowledge of Elderly Mexican Americans, gave her the opportunity to work with the elderly, which was a very rewarding experience. Rosie also holds a Supervision Certificate from the Texas Education Agency for grades K-12. She was a Home Economics teacher for twenty-two (22) years and is presently the Supervisor for the Teen Parent Program in the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District.
Rosie and her husband James were married in 1973 and have two children: Jamie, who resides in New York City; and Patrick, who resides in Austin. Rosie loves to read, sew, crochet, cross stitch, and embroider. Most of all she loves spending time with her family and friends. Summers at South Padre Island allow her to visit friends and enjoy the beautiful sunsets.
