Mary Jane is a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Community since 1982 and has been a member of Court of the Holy Family #2597, Houston, since 2008. She currently serves as Eucharistic Minister, Eucharistic Minister to the homebound, is a member of the Sandwich Ministry and a member of the Funeral Food Committee. She was co-chairman for two capital campaigns raising over $10MM for church construction.
She served from 2017 to 2019 as the Texas State Treasurer; elected as charter Regent for Court of the Holy Family #2597 in 2008 and is currently serving as the court’s Recording Secretary. She also serves on the State Financial Review Team, is Treasurer for the Past Regents Club of Texas, is the Secretary of the 2023 Convention Committee Core Team and is the Texas State Newsletter Editor.
Past CDA service includes being appointed and serving 6 years as District Deputy #54, State and National Convention Banquet chairman, and Timekeepers and Credentials convention committees. She was also elected to the 2011 State Nominating Committee. Mary Jane has been a frequent workshop presenter for state conventions, leadership workshops and officer training.
She was presented with the State Regent’s Top 5 District Deputy Award in 2017 and the recipient of three St. Bernadine Awards for starting three courts: Court of the Holy Family #2597, Houston; Court Mary, Mother of the Redeemer #2680, Houston, and Court Christ the Good Shepherd #2731, Spring.
Mary Jane was honored by the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus by being named the first woman Class Honoree of the October 2021 Fourth Degree Exemplification. She earned her Knights of Columbus ACE Wings for pro-life activities and along with husband Merv, was the recipient of two Knights of Columbus Family of the Year awards.
Mary Jane attended Blinn College in Brenham, McKenzie Baldwin Business College in Bryan, and Southwestern Paralegal Institute in Houston. She served as Legal Administrative Assistant for First City National Bank of Houston Legal Department and then as Paralegal to the General Council at Texas Commerce Bank Legal Department. Currently she is Vice-President/Corporate Secretary for a home-based business, NTD Shipping, Inc. beginning in 2001.
Mary Jane and Merv were married February 7, 1987. They have 5 children, 6 grandchildren and one (another on the way) great grandchildren. Her interests include spending time with Merv and the grandkids, sewing, cooking and baking, and volunteering for 40 years at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.
