Janet is a member of Court St. Michael #559 in Weimar. Janet has a long history of the Catholic Daughters of Americas organization. Her grandmother was a Catholic Daughter in Shiner; her mother still is an active member of Court St. Michael after being a member for 55 years and her daughter joined Court St. Michael in 2021. After joining in 1997, Janet was elected Vice Regent; and then elected Regent for thirteen years in her court.
As a member of Court St. Michael, she has served on many committees, including newsletter editor, bazaar fundraiser chairman, Memorial Mass chairman, and fish fry dessert chairman, just to name a few.
In 2017, Janet was appointed District Deputy for District #11, and continued for 3 terms. She was awarded the District Deputy Award in 2021. During the 2019-2021 term, she assisted with a State Financial Review; and in 2021, she served on the State Convention Standing Rules Committee. She is a member of the Past Regents Club of Texas.
Just recently, at the 53rd State Convention in Galveston, she was elected State Treasurer.
St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church is her home parish. She is a communion minister, a member of the parish altar society and achieved the Mother Seton Award in 2017.
Janet graduated from Weimar High School in 1985 and moved to Austin, Texas and lived there for 10 years. While there, she enrolled in the Jackie Nell Business School and attended St. Ignatius Catholic Church.
Janet moved back to Weimar and married James Purdy in 1996. They have 3 children: Austin, Emily and Reed; and 2 dogs and 2 cats. She enjoys fishing at Port O’Connor, playing dominoes and doing yardwork.
