Our First Annual Ladies' Fellowship Retreat and Baby shower was held to recruit new members for our court. We also collected baby items to donate to a local Pro-Life charity. We recited and re-enacted the Joyful Mysteries to help enhance the life of Blessed Mother Mary. We played a fun bingo game to learn more about the many roles and different wardrobes that Blessed Mother Mary wore. The weather was cold that day, but we still managed to have a good turnout. God is good!
Our Lady of Schoenstatt Court #2672 was instituted on January 19, 2014 at the Conference Center of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Weslaco, Texas. It became the 2,672th Court in the USA and the 234th Court in the State of Texas. Fifty-nine members became Charter Members of this newly established court. Janie Corona, District Deputy #22 and Velda Correa (Past Local Regent 2015-2016) were the driving force behind it all.
The Court chose the name because of their devotion to Our Blessed Mother. “Schoenstatt” (German name for “a beautiful place”) is a Marian pilgrimage place founded by Fr. Joseph Kentenich (1885-1968) along with a group of seminarians, in Germany on October 18, 1914. Because of this devotion, the members from Court Our Lady of Schoenstatt #2672 pray the rosary on the 18th of every month by the replicated Wayside Shrine, which was built on the grounds of St. Pius X in Weslaco, Texas.
A one-day annual pilgrimage is also made by local parishioners to the Wayside Shrine in Lamar, Texas. A monetary donation from the members of Court #2672 is presented to the Schoenstatt Sisters during this time to help them with any financial needs they may have.
