CDA Day at the Park!

By Terrie Vacek, Texas State Public Relations and Website Chairman

It was a home run for the Circle of Love® FAMILY spoke. CDA at the park was a huge event hosted by District #20 in Houston as State Regent Eve Trevino walked on the field in Minute Maid Park and threw in the Ceremonial First Pitch for the Astro vs. the Chicago White Sox game on Saturday, July 2, 2016.

About 800 Catholic Daughters, husbands, children, grandchildren, family and friends enjoyed a “FAMILY” afternoon watching the Houston Astros fight hard for a win. It was a close game losing to Chicago in a 7-6 finish.

Following the game, a reception was arranged allowing guests to mingle with the State Board; State Regent Eve Trevino, First Vice State Regent Rosie Stockwell, Second Vice State Regent Melodie Brunt, State Secretary Becky Brown and State Treasurer Terri Beltran.

Host courts were CDA members of Courts Blessed Trinity #1971, Queen of All Apostles #2258, St. Cyril #2071, St. Francis De Sales #2647, St. Angela of the Cross #2674 with Dela Garza serving as chairman.

Beltran said, "This was an awesome opportunity to celebrate "The Family" in CDA and for honoring our State Regent Eve Trevino. This weekend will be etched in our hearts forever!!!"

"A great big ‘thank you’ to you Mavis!” Stockwell said, adding, “your committee did wonders and we felt so special! We had a blast. We are still feeling the warmth of the wonderful time we had; it truly was great family time. From the bottom of my heart, please know that all of the efforts from District 20 is truly appreciated! May God bless you."

Mavis Kathryn Dugas, CDA District Deputy #20 Praised her committee saying, "What a joyous feeling it is to see our CDA families with us having so much fun. We all watched our State Regent, Eve Trevino, pitch that first ball … WHAT A PLAY, WHAT AN HONOR, WHAT A GOD who was also with us, our state officers, and our families in prayer and solitude as together we celebrated Mass at the Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral. WOW, WAS I WAS PROUD, EXCITED, AND SO JOYFUL OF THE GOOD WORKS of THIS PROJECT… THANK YOU DISTRICT #20!!"

The FAMILY that prays, and plays together, stays together.

The Family that reflects joy is contagious and becomes a mirror of God’s love and mercy.

Family is the future of the Church.
